Since receiving my TESOL certificate in 1996 from London University I have worked in varied circumstances. Firstly, in Croatia, then Bosnia-Herzegovina, planning and teaching classes (1994-7). I also arranged curricula and supported other teachers there for three years.
I moved to Darmstadt, near Frankfurt am Main, Germany for 6 years and taught Business English, Examination classes and multiple specialist groups. Learning some German and enjoying the country took up the rest of my time. Darmstadt is the German City of Science, and Frankfurt the major Finance centre. in Germany.
After Germany I moved to Nepal with VSO (Voluntary Services Overseas). My role was advising on the methodology of teaching, and Teacher Training. I also worked with local government in the training of trainers The method of teaching advised on being the student-centered method, and task based learning.
After three years in Nepal I returned to the UK working in Language Schools, including as an assistant Director of Studies in Winchester (England).
Over the years this has given me a huge amount of varying experiences, and besides teaching English / Education I’ve worked in Support work, Hotel and Catering industry and agriculture / gardening.
I also enjoy reading – often history books, spending time with my family, walking/hiking, cycling , and football. Including managing my sons under 9s football team.
